In the early 1800's, white males were given

the right to vote for the person who will be representing them.

This was largely because many states lowored

property ownership asvoting qualifications.

People payed taxes and had an iterest in politcal

affairs.The spoils system was a practice

of appointing people togovernment jobs based

on party support.
